Window reflector4/30/2023 ![]() And I do recommend picking one target per night, instead of hopping around. Soon enough you'll be getting full nights on your target, 5 or 6 hours. Start setting reachable goals, start with one hour, and keep trying for more. Whatever length exposure you are able to get, the largest factor contributing to your image is not how long each subexposure is, but how long your total integration is. You don't need to guide right away, but with good polar alignment, a decent motorized EQ mount should get your exposures up to 30 seconds fairly easily. When you get to the point where you want to upgrade gear, getting a proper motor driven EQ mount is what you will want first. If that's the case then that is your biggest limitation. I'm guessing that your mount is non motorized, just hand controls. Not a bad first effort at all, certainly better than some my earliest tries. I'm going to upload the images in separate posts as a workaround the limitations.Įdited by TW_Nights, 25 June 2022 - 07:13 AM. this is not something you can compensate just fiddling with the counterweight and the saddle's position, since the camera is going to be on the side of the telescope when you aim at certain locations. And of course this only works on certain angles. Regarding the camera and the mount I have to say that I'm already off the weight limits, and I have to use the clutch on the mount to lock the scope in position. There's some table somewhere, with a French name.? I suspect this depends on the exposure time too. find longest exposure time per shot, with no obvious trailing. ![]() Some of these nights I was just guesstimating since the sky wasn't dark enough and there was some mist try to get the alignment as good as possible.Usually in my telescope when locking the focus gets out of whack, so you need to find the right offset, lock, and confirm on the camera's display, zoomed all way in It's tricky, but it can do "well" if playing with the focusing wheel and the lock. darks, flats, and dunno if there's something in between.Whirpool galaxy:28 x 6s ISO 1,600 (actually there's at least one that is 5s xD).Like, for example, ISO settings and different parameters when editing. However, I wonder if there are other things I could do differently for getting better results. I know that my gear is suboptimal for the task and I know that the exposure times were shorter than what people usually do. So I went on a trip chasing clear skies and tried to get some DSO shots.
